The guards at Auschwitz were perpetually drunk, because they couldn't stand what they were doing. Were they complicit in the holocaust? YES!
- trhway 2y agoThat is the point - after countless deaths we produced the principle of "carrying out a criminal order is a crime", yet we still see the people committing atrocities and going unpunished because they were just carrying out the orders. And that makes me think that we're still missing something important.
- bee_rider 2y agoWell the folks giving the orders obviously have mixed feelings about the whole idea that their orders could be criminal.
