Laudable goal, but there are many fundamental problems with it.
(1) First and foremost, "bias" isn't a thing, it is a subjective idea not an objective idea.
Pro-vaccine people think anything questioning whether they cause autism is biased, pro-measles people think anything institutional is biased, but only one of those things is grounded in truth.
So you want biased news sources, sources biased towards the truth. Your left vs right scale is vulnerable to the overton window, and is in many ways irrelevant when compared to factual or not.
Anytime someone uses the word bias, they are implicitly denying objective truth, which is pro-fascist. If everything is encumbered by bias, and nothing is objectively true, then there is no basis on which to judge those in power.
This app uses your own idea about what the objective truth is to determine bias. Someone who is in favor of things you call biased would see this app as biased.
So don't seek to find bias, seek to find out the truth.
(2) It depends on good faith. Many Americans are playing team sports. They don't act in good faith. Most people don't want to read ideas they disagree with, and they will reject the author before they question themselves.
(3) The people who care about truth already are aware of systems of incentive and alignment, so the people who need this type of thing the most are the least likely to use it.
You know what is actually more important?
Picking out "conceptual metaphors" and determining whether a news source is fundamentally pro-oligarch or anti-oligarch.
A good example of a conceptual metaphor is CEO:
The CEO metaphor re-frames political rule as a business operation, which makes executive overreach appear logical rather than dangerous.
Another is Moat:
"Building a moat" frames anti-competitive behavior as a defense rather than an assault on the free market by implying that monopolistic behavior is a survival strategy rather than an attempt to dominate the market and coerce customers rather than compete for them.
Pulling out and collecting insidious conceptual metaphors in order to attempt to disarm them seems better, imagine:
an extension that pulls out conceptual metaphors and explains how they are insidious -> contact a politician like AOC offering this service -> attempt to leverage their bully pulpit position to defang the oppositions most insidious weapon.
Potentially pull out linguistic evidence of alignment, for example, choosing to use Taipei or Taiwan to refer to that country is a very important editorial choice.

I would call it something like "Matrix" because once you see linguistic manipulation, it's like seeing the matrix, and you realize almost all news is oligarch news. "All war is class war..."
