The role of judges is to maintain the rule of law under the constitution. If the president is outside that, the role of judges is to contain the president, just as it is their role to contain anyone else who is outside it.
- bArray 2y agoSure, but there is a lot of interpretation to be done (hence the need for a judge) - and at the point where judges see their role as interpreting the law maximally in favour of stopping the president, then something is wrong.
