There are only three ways to beat a populist: * Abolish democracy (only works preemptively, abolishing democracy while they're in charge would obviously not work). * Wait for them to die and hope they don't teach what they know to a successor. * Learn from them and speak to some fraction of their core even more persuasively than they do. You don't defeat a populist by simple virtue of being right.
