This is hardly hacking the network. DHCP configuration is surfaced in almost every home router that exposes an admin panel (which is most of them).
If you don't want to broadcast your Pihole's address as a default DNS over DHCP, you can always just do it manually through the DNS panel on your device that you almost certainly have used in the past (statistically speaking, given HN's audience) to point it to quad9, or 1.1.1.1, or google's DNS.
- TZubiri 2y agoThe cognitive load it takes to parse this sentence is proof that it's hacking.
- borski 2y agoNo, it isn’t. It’s proof that it requires some work. Those are not the same thing. When you change the tires on your car, that isn’t hacking. But it does require work.
- TZubiri 2y agoIf you change the spokes of your car for aesthetic purposes with a secondary market product then that would be hacking. Changing a tire for an official tire because your tire broke, not hacking. Changing a tire with a secondary market tire because your tire broke ? Mmmmh, gray area. Changing a tire with a secondary market tire that has spikes so that you can ram other cars and poke them like in mad max? hacking.
