Show HN: Adapting Shakespeare's "The Tempest" into a Screenplay (By Hand)
- jfengel 2y agoThe actual script is buried at the bottom: https://www.dropbox.com/s/8ixb8mirnttvqc4/Tempest%20Records%20Inc%20-%20Sam%20Henry%20Cliff%20(2025).pdf?e=1&st=7pr99yrs&dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/8ixb8mirnttvqc4/Tempest%20Records%... A very, very loose adaptation. Which is fine. But in skimming it, I don't even recognize the plot points. I'd need to read more closely to say if the story and the writing stand. But it makes me smile for a personal reason: we did a production of Twelfth Night set at a music festival. We used Shakespeare's text. Shakespeare is remarkably adaptable, even in his original language. He had to be vague about things like setting, time, costumes, etc, so with a little judicious editing you can be very free about just who these people are. You just need to find a scenario that fits your understanding of the dynamics between the characters.
