Show HN: ChurnDog – My weekend side-project to fight churn in B2B SaaS
I run a SaaS company (HeySummit). For years, I watched as failed payments and silent cancellations chipped away at revenue, but I never felt like I had a handle on where (or why) things were going wrong. The guessing game around churn trends was especially frustrating; I’d see high-level monthly reports showing lost subscribers, but never enough context to know what to fix.
So, on a few weekends here and there, I decided to hack together something to solve it. Originally, ChurnDog was just a scrappy dunning tool to recover failed payments. But then I realised a lot of churn tools I’d tried either stopped at email recovery or dumped a bunch of data without telling me what to do next. I wanted something that gave me both automation (to claw back revenue) and real insight into why people might be leaving.
ChurnDog is definitely still in its early days (this is basically my soft launch), so I’m very much learning as I go. If you’re a SaaS founder or operator, I’d genuinely love to hear your thoughts:
- Is a simple, automated approach to failed payments and churn insights something you’d find useful?
- What tactics have you used to reduce churn that really worked (or totally bombed)?
I’m offering 6 months free for the first 10 folks who want to give it a spin—just ask and I’ll set you up. Mostly, I’d love any feedback on what feels missing, or what you’d do differently. Building this has been a bit of a passion project for me, and I’m eager to learn from others in the community.
Thanks for reading, and I hope it sparks a good discussion about fighting churn in SaaS.
Looking forward to your thoughts!
