In a way I am glad that C++ has become such an unholy mess, as it means there will probably always be employment available for those of us whose careers have grown along with it, but I really don't want to spend the rest of my career pigeonholed into legacy maintenance work. I am glad to work for a company which uses both C++ and Rust, so I have opportunities to develop experience with the latter.
