Show HN: Would you build your startup if you knew it had no chance?
Hey HN,
I built ScribeAI to help founders/entrepreneurs avoid wasting months on bad startup ideas. Too many of us fall in love with an idea, spend time building, and then realize there’s no market for it. I’ve been there, and I wanted a faster, data-driven way to validate ideas.
How it works: 1⃣ Enter your startup idea 2⃣ ScribeAI scans the web for competitors, trends, and risks 3⃣ Get an instant breakdown: Should you pursue it or not?
No more endless Googling or guessing if your idea is worth it. Just quick, actionable insights.
I’d love your feedback! What would make this more useful for you? Try it out and let me know what you think.
- re-thc 2y agoIf AI or analytics can determine if a startup would be successful or even just the idea there wouldn't even be VC nor investors. How does / would this work? How can it be data-driven? If there's data on it, is it still a startup idea? If this was a thing the investors just need to pool the money and hire someone to execute. No bets needed. Something seems off.
- theGeatZhopa 2y agoYeah, me too thought "if that can determine if a startup would be successful, why doesn't it found it by itself then.." The question is, has the original idea of an startup/ AI that is capable to determine the success of an idea been feeded to the very same AI capable determining success of an idea to determine whether the idea will be successful? ...?
- benrobo 2y agoInteresting point! AI like ScribeAI can analyze data and offer insights, but it doesn't "create" a startup or decide its success on its own. The AI doesn’t know if an idea will succeed because success involves so many unpredictable human factors—like timing, market shifts, and execution. ScribeAI job is to help reduce the risk and give you informed insights to improve your chances, but the original idea still comes from people, not the AI. So, it’s about using AI to inform, not replace human decision-making.
- theGeatZhopa 2y agoPoint! Just thinking, agents are coming more and more to light. In example of deepseeks kind and wise to reason. What I see there reasembles two different agents talking to each other. While reasoning of claude ai doesn't look for me like two different agents but rather one talking to himself. So, if one would set up an organization structured agent hierarchy of boss (adviser) and managers (controller), workers (thinkers), it would be possible to do human-like decision-making.
- benrobo 2y agoGood question. Actually, the success of a startup doesn’t rely solely on AI or analytics. ScribeAI offers insights and data-driven recommendations, but it's not a guarantee of success. The real value of these insights is in helping you assess risks and opportunities before fully committing resources. Even with the data, there's still a lot of unknowns—such as timing, execution, and market fit—that AI can't predict. Success still depends on the human element, creativity, and adaptability of the team behind the idea. I would use ScribeAI to refine my idea, understand market demand, and check competition, but the real success still depends on human factors like execution, adaptability, and timing.
