So you want a method to block kids from going to websites, not block adults going to websites and you don’t want age verification?
You don’t see a problem with this?
- nickthegreek 2y agoOh I see the problem. It’s a minefield of issues! I’m saying that allowing kids on large social media to begin with is an issue. Co-minging them with the rest of the userbase adds to the issue. If the interface was a different color and the parent had an easy way to know which Instagram (or Instagram Jr) the user was on, the parent could easily understand where they were. It would be easier to regulate algorithms and such on that walled garden. If kids were found to be on the adult version, the accounts should be banned. I’m not saying there is a perfect solution. I’m saying the 1st amendment exists and you need to work within that framework. And I refuse to agree that the only choice is giving up being anonymous on the internet. It’s not even clear that KOSA could survive 1A challenges. Regulate the issues causing the problems. Allow users to bring their own algorithms. Don’t allow algorithmic content/advetising on accounts marked as under 18. There are so many other things to try first. The issue is Big Tech owns the legislators and so we are stuck with nothing except them whims of the few powerful people at the helm of these ships.
