This seems like a reasonable reply from Brother. I have not seen verification (screenshots, videos) of what is being alleged. I wonder if it is poppin up scary messages or refusing to do some of the troubleshooting steps without a chipped ink cart. Removing old firmware versions from their download site is bullshit though.
