It was fascinating hearing LTT talk about how much less money they get from Adsense than from their own embedded ads. They only do two 15-second embedded ads per video, and they make an order of magnitude more money through their in-house ad sales. That is even factoring in the amount of skips, ad-blocking, and the minutes of ads Google puts on their videos. Which begs the question: Do Google's video ads just really suck? Are they just really bad at delivering ads and getting buyers? Is that why they have to shove so many into each video now?
