Didn't Intel base Core Duo on their Israel branch' Pentium M design? I don't remember too much about the architecture codenames but were they similar to Pentium Pro?

The Core microarchitecture was designed by Israel's Intel Israel (IDC) team that previously designed the Pentium M mobile processor[1] The Pentium III Tualatin (mentioned above) and the Pentium M are closely related.
