Trump Calls for End to $52B CHIPS Act Subsidy Program
- redeux 2y agoIf Trump actually cares about bringing manufacturing back and national security, I can see few opportunities as important as domestic semiconductor fabs. Our military relies on them, our economy relies on them, and everyday households rely on them. We’re wholly dependent on this foundational technology, and we’re wholly dependent on supplies from other nations, some of which are at risk of being annexed by unfriendly countries. Maybe I’m missing something here… Even from a purely financial standpoint the article say this subsidy has resulted in $400B in private investments. That seems like a win to me.
- jeffbee 2y agoRussia doesn't have a domestic technology base of any kind, yet Russia has a few hundred spectacularly rich families. This is what Trump is thinking.
