I bought Brother printer HL-3220CW and it doesn't work with 3rd party toners. It didn't even have new firmware. I also have HL-3230CDW that I bought few years ago and aftermarket toner works fine. Seems like they must have done it to the newer printers. The new printer is completely uneconomical. I had to pay around £150 for Brother set of toners, whereas aftermarket for my older printer is just £35. The quality is the same.
