When people are nervous/scared (as they are with doctors) they start rambling about all sorts of things. I had somebody rambling about the Lion King musical versus the lion King cartoon recently, instead of telling me about their recent heart attack. The ‘art’ of medicine is redirecting the patient to provide the most important/relevant information. In addition, doctors have finite attention span/hours of the day. Nobody wants to read paragraphs upon paragraphs of information.
