The counter tariffs are usually explicitly chosen to make it not hurt their own citizens while hurting red states, because alternative sources of the tariffed goods exists domestically or from other parts of the world. Americans need aluminum and steel and lumber and power. Canada does not need Kentucky whiskey and Harleys.
- Marsymars 2y agoKinda, yeah, and I get that everyone well have their pet good that they feel shouldn't be tariffed, but including fruits/vegetables/legumes very much hurts the consumer.
