You need to take some physics in high school, and IIRC you do enough that you encounter equations of motion such as f=ma and E=(1/2)mv^2 etc. We do factor polynomials: we do it in year 10/11 at least in NZ, and our maths education is very poor compared to places like Singapore and Finland, as far as I know.
