  I challenge you to rewrite this so that you're making a strong, optimistic argument for surveillance from your perspective, instead of shitting on a young person for trying to navigate a path through legitimately complex tradeoffs. The onus is on you to make a thought-provoking case, not for them to convince you that their internal ethical alarm bells are reasonable.
