Erotic writing is becoming more explicit
- Terr_ 2y agoSomehow this makes me think of Blazing Saddles, where part of the satire is hard to understand for folks who didn't grow up with shows that had to meet the "Television Code", a set of puritanical rules the industry created for itself to avoid other kinds of regulation. There was an insane glut of cowboy TV shows, and all of them had to comply with those rules, essentially spreading a whitewashed version of history where systemic injustice didn't exist, and the policeman was always a good person... Oh, and couples always had separate beds. Did something similar exist in the literary world, with long-term echoes?
