Trump isnt trying to solve anything in Ukrine. He's very happy if Europe want to continue the war. He's trying to solve an american problem, which is the US being trapped in europe, spending large amounts there, and otherwise wasting resources on containing the wrong country (Russia). He will try to impose a peace, as the best outcome for everyone -- if he cannot do that, he will choose the best outcome for america and let europe manage the mess.
