It is impressive how much hate and negativity the comments include. Sometimes we forget that while traffic keeps up community quality can easily degenerate. They will have to put also a lot of effort into community-re-building.
This shows again shows to me how hard and impressive the task is they picked. It's social software. It's not only the rewriting of the software part but also rewiring te social part.
Truly inspiring!
- nicholassmith 14y agoQuite frankly if it upsets all those people going "Facebook login?! I'M NEVER COMING BACK" and they don't, I'd probably be more interested in using Digg again
- mtgx 14y agoWhy would they tie their future to Facebook, though?
- Schlaefer 14y agoThey say it's a short term solution to fight submission spam. See second to the last: http://digg.com/faq#why-facebook http://digg.com/faq#why-facebook
- Baba_Chaghaloo 14y agoBecause people who use Facebook post such great content? Srs?
- nicholassmith 14y agoNo, but the people who rail against what they've said is a temporary measure with all the reasonableness of a bull smashing a china shop aren't the sort of community I'd be pleased to participate in.
- grandpoobah 14y agoThese comments are potentially made by people who have been using Digg for many years and have continued to be loyal in spite of v4. Imagine yourself in their position when one day you visit your favourite site and everything is gone.
- andreasklinger 14y agoI understand both sides. This is why i meant it is a huge challenge. :)
