Thank god that finally we're going to stop sending hundreds of thousands of men into a meat grinder for no purpose. Ofc, Trump is doing this in great part because he personally hates Zelensky and Biden. He's doing what he did to Obama and just unwinding everything his predecessor did. He also correctly ascertains that this is a huge waste of money that is counterproductive. All the liberal cold warriors that wanted to bleed russia made Russia stronger by doing this. Not that I care either way, but it's funny to watch these war hawks have it blow up in their face, not that they really care since they are eating charcuterie at DC lawn parties with their Raytheon bucks.

The US has an effective way of ending that: more, heavier weapons, no restrictions, and a promise to place peace keepers. Instead, they chose to infuriate a key player. Cui bono?

        This is not the case. A Russian puppet took over the Ukrainian government on promises of aligning Ukraine with Europe and was removed by the Ukrainian people when it was clear he had lied. He then fled to Russia, where he belongs.       Or they can negotiate for peace. This is how most wars end. It is also how this war will end. If only the 2022 Istanbul negotiations were supported by the west instead of being undermined. If I were Ukrainian I would be furious with the western 'allies', essentially lying about unconditional support and promoting an impossible outcome for their own geopolitical interests. Utterly shameful.

        "negotiate for peace" means capitulation if russia gets to keep occupied ukrainian territory the world tried this in the past and it did not work out so well Russia will keep going until they are stopped

Russia will just attack again. Ukrainans and their own poor and non-ethnic-Russian population are just subhumans to them and they literally don't care about any deaths.

The US was helping Ukraine because they were fighting against Russia. It was a proxy war in the US's interest. Withdrawing from it, therefore, by prior US foreign policy, would be against US interests. We'll find out eventually.
