Ask HN: Skype alternative?

4 points by Kaibeezy 2y ago

I use it to make inexpensive international calls from multiple devices, mainly to/from US/UK. It's cheap and lets me use my regular number as the caller ID. I have looked for alternatives a few times over the years and always ended up slouching along with Skype. TIA

Related discussion came up in December when Skype killed credits. Posting helpful threads. Based on the below, looking at Tello, Dialpad, Viber - Viber seems like the winner. - https://www.reddit.com/r/skype/comments/1h8r7a9/alternatives_to_skype_for_making_international/ https://www.reddit.com/r/skype/comments/1h8r7a9/alternatives... - https://www.reddit.com/r/digitalnomad/comments/1hh8yyc/now_that_skype_credits_have_gone_and_maybe_skype/ https://www.reddit.com/r/digitalnomad/comments/1hh8yyc/now_t... - https://www.reddit.com/r/digitalnomad/comments/1iehv3p/skype_slowly_going_away_need_alternatives/ https://www.reddit.com/r/digitalnomad/comments/1iehv3p/skype...
