I’ve yet to see it be more than kinda-useful, so these places are either delusional about how good this stuff is, or yeah, they’re lying and just wanted to do layoffs without it looking bad. I wouldn’t rule out the former, though. Someone(s) in leadership may really think they finally found a way to stop paying the proles. There’s a lot of magical thinking floating around among C-suite types, re: AI.
