Even if it expires after 30 years, if the company doesn't publish the source code, what good does it do?
- jimnotgym 2y agoPerhaps to get the copyright you should put the code in escrow? Not really, it costs a fortune
- colechristensen 2y agoThis is exactly what I meant though, put the code in a private third party library in order to gain IP protection.
- account42 2y agoEscrow for source code only costs a fortune because the only demand for it is b&b software where contracts require it. It's not a fundamentally expensive service and if it was required in order to receive copyright protection then it would just be provided by the government either for free or at cost.
