"Bezos also made clear that alternate views will not appear on the pages."
So glad the US finally got a government focusing on freedom of speech .. And you know, not pressuring companies and the press to do their bidding /s
- ein0p 2y agoBezos is not a part of US government, thankfully.
- joshuamorton 2y agoAssuredly, but this does appear to be a move to appease an administration that has signaled it will attack an unfriendly press.
- nxm 2y agoJust like Biden administration did before
- llamaimperative 2y agoNor was Dorsey's Twitter?
- ein0p 2y agoThat very much was a part of the government. They were receiving orders directly from the White House, same as now, I suppose.
- kalleboo 2y agoThey received requests, many of which were denied. Not part of the government.
- ein0p 2y agoNot according to Twitter files. Twitter under Dorsey and later under Agarwal was quite enthusiastic and eager about pushing the government narratives and suppressing dissent. They even deplatformed a sitting president. I get that you probably liked it back then, but let's be real here. Twitter neither was in a position to deny any requests, nor did it have any inclination to do so.
- rendx 2y agoAccording to Dorsey, they didn't want to block Trump, they caved in to advertiser requests. "But [the Trump ban] was right for the business, because if we didn’t act on it, we probably would have lost all our advertisers, which would affect the business and stock price. But it was wrong for the world and the internet, given the fact that we could do it in the first place. No one should be able to do that." https://www.piratewires.com/p/interview-with-jack-dorsey-mike-solana https://www.piratewires.com/p/interview-with-jack-dorsey-mik...
- ein0p 2y agoNot true according to their own press release: https://blog.x.com/en_us/topics/company/2020/suspension https://blog.x.com/en_us/topics/company/2020/suspension
- kalleboo 2y agoYes according to the Twitter files. https://x.com/davidzweig/status/1607384015731888135 https://x.com/davidzweig/status/1607384015731888135 > They even deplatformed a sitting president That sounds like literally the opposite of following government narratives?
- ein0p 2y agoBy "government" at that time I mean the DNC / DeepState that twitter was entirely subservient to before Musk bought it.
- smileson2 2y agoMight as well be, it’s not the doing of a single party but it’s pretty much just become the lever of a few at this point, people simply don’t matter unless they are able and willing to pay for representation I’m whatever about it though, will be interesting to watch crumble
- Hikikomori 2y agoWell, dont want to be labeled as lugenpresse.
