Ex-ownCloud devs seek new start at OpenCloud – Owncloud owner wants to sue

- duxup 2y agoI worked at a large company that acquired a small start up company that similarly their business was based largely on some open source code. Our large company never worked with open source code before and really didn't understand the risk that "these guys can just walk... and the code is free for them". No amount of warning could change how the big company operated, some management seemed outright offended to be informed of the lay of the land. Everyone who was from the start up was gone within 2 years, most across the street at a new venture based on the open source code, and not long after the product shut down as far as large company was concerned. It was wild to watch the otherwise fairly competent large company willingly cut their nose off to spite their face, and double down on doing so while it was happening.
