- bell-cot 2y agoSounds like Argentina needs to close a bunch of legal loopholes, and seriously upsize its maritime forces.
- inverted_flag 2y agoIt's not just an Argentina problem, the Chinese fishing swarm also targets the Philippines, the Galapagos islands[0], and basically anywhere that doesn't have a Navy strong enough to deter them. - gus_massa 2y agoThere is no loophole, it's just that after 200 miles anyone can fish > The P-3C, carrying Defense Minister Luis Alfonso Petri and several senior military officials, flew toward a "concentration" of fishing vessels near the outer edge of the exclusive economic zone (EEZ)—an area extending 200 nautical miles (230 miles) from the coast, within which the country alone is entitled to natural resources. The Argentinean ships only can be there to ensure none of them get confused and go to the 199.9 mile.
