I don't see why the police can't just get a warrant - "the victim is showing me a tracking pin showing their device" seems like reasonable cause for a narrow search warrant to be issued on a property for that device. This seems like a reason to streamline warrants rather than bypassing the normal court oversight processes.

Sadly, the UK has never been a big fan of warrants. Not surprising that the British population are supporting this news of "warrantless searches" either.
