Ente: Self Host the Google Photos Alternative and Own Your Privacy
- AdriaanvRossum 2y agoI would love to see how it looks. Can you add screenshots to the site?
- matteason 2y agoThere are screenshots on ente.io [0] and their GitHub repo [1] [0] https://ente.io/ https://ente.io/ [1] https://github.com/ente-io/ente https://github.com/ente-io/ente

- elaus 2y agoVery happy with using Immich[1] for self-hosting a Google Photos alternative. Feels good to not push all those private memories to big tech. What would be the main differences to Ente Photos? The on-by-default encryption? [1] https://immich.app/ https://immich.app/
- erellsworth 2y ago+1 for Immich. It was easy to setup and they aren't pushing any kind of subscription bullshit.

- igor47 2y agoDitto! Immich development has also been pretty steady
- senectus1 2y agoI built an immich instance, and ported my whole family over to it and its gone so smoothly I became a paid member. Immich is right up there with blender and krita etc etc.

- TSUTiger 2y agoFor those who have used both, how does this compare with Memories[0] -- it was still open in one of my tabs :) [0] https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=39783223 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=39783223
- grimblee 2y agoOwn your privacy on AWS ? Ain't that funny.
- turtlebits 2y agoTried Ente a few months ago. It was a pain to self host. Went to Immich and its much easier. I'm on the fence for moving off of a hosted option as both of these don't seem to have great backup/DR solutions.
