- eru 18y agoThough less through programming directly, but more by supporting activities like hanging out in IRC (and playing Nethack).
- pg 18y agoThe alarming thing is, this is less than 10x what the average teenage kid sends: 1750 messages a month. That's one text message every 16.7 waking minutes.
- jmtulloss 18y agoAlarming, or a business opportunity waiting to be seized? Just think of the emerging market for thumb splints, glasses, and various callous creams.
- DaniFong 18y agoI can't imagine texting that much without some fast input device like a chorded keyboard, as stenographers have. It's many buttons to a character, but you get 2^32 characters for only five buttons. I've wanted one for my own phone, maybe even non-geeky teenagers might want one as well? :-)
- gaius 18y agoDisclaimer: I am not a teenager :-) But it's not unusual for me to send a text to 30 people at a time, e.g. 3 Crowns at 8pm, see you there? So the numbers are completely believable.

- pietro 18y agoT9 on a standard numeric keypad is very fast once you've written a few thousand messages.
- callmeed 18y agoFunny, my 14 yo daughter just cleared 1,800 last month ... I even caught her calling a friend to tell her she sent her a text ... didn't quite get that one
- numair 18y agoThis totally seems like a story from that newspaper in Sim City. How utterly pointless.
- ConradHex 18y agoI'm always surprised how many articles sound like that. Especially when people are complaining about taxes or city ordinances, or a lack of police officers.
