Yeah for the most part nobody is prosecuting. Feds are going after bigger fish. Local authorities in the US are looking elsewhere too. It gets awkward if someone dies, but even then they're just tracing stuff to go after the person that dealt the drugs, who is in a quagmire of ratting out a cartel (instant game over) or taking the L and going to jail. Could all change at any moment of course.
