None of this is about efficiency. They have been very public in stating their goals prior to taking power. This is more in line with their goals: "We want the bureaucrats to be traumatically affected.     Department of Grift and Embezzlement The fact that most of the IGs were fired before DOGE was given access to anything and the fact that there are no auditors involved is a strong signal that we'll find out years from now that rather than save taxpayers any money while shutting things down, DOGE almost certainly funneled a tremendous amount of money into certain individuals' pockets.

The absolute best explanation is they're going to be "sold" to a private middleman so someone can be lining their pockets (so efficient!). The middle of the road explanation is that it's just more reactionary Lysenkoism.
