I'm a contractor at a mega corp (senior technical role at a large, boring non-technical company). I love it because the company is so inefficient, I can easily get my job done with time to spare and work on other side-projects. I see the daily work of my manager and I think I would hate it: drowning in useless meetings and keeping upper-level management happy with their ridiculous requests. With all of my combined work, I make more than him with less bullshit.
