Teslas spotted autonomously driving from Fremont factory to loading dock
- beeflet 2y agoMan, I really don't like self driving cars. In the future, government assassinations will just be done by hacking your car and driving you off a bridge. Plausible deniability at the push of a button.
- cratermoon 2y agoI suspect that driving a well-defined path to a loading dock a quarter mile away is fool-proof enough even a Tesla could manage it.
- zippyman55 2y agoThat would be some Segway.
- tenpies 2y agoYou probably don't need the "in the future" part. We know that CIA was looking into infiltrating the embedded systems in vehicles since as early as 2014, thanks to Wikileak: https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a15342464/cias-alleged-foray-into-car-hacking-should-come-as-no-surprise/ https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a15342464/cias-alleged-for... One year before that, in 2013, the death of Michael Hastings was incredibly suspicious and matched what one of these assassinations would look like: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Hastings_(journalist)#Controversy_over_alleged_foul_play https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Hastings_(journalist)#...

- IcePic 2y agoDon't see it as a huge improvement if they cut the wires to my breaks before I drive down a mountain. Sure, someone can possibly tell it was tampered with, but I will be as dead as you.
- NoPicklez 2y agoI assume this is allowed? Are autonomous vehicles without drivers legal? I am certainly impressed by the video, but I don't know if they're allowed to do that.
- dartos 2y agoI mean… does it matter what’s legal in this case?
- raverbashing 2y agoIf it's not a public road, you can do this kind of thing And I mean, if you really want self-driving cars, then yes this is the least they could do
- nobankai 2y agoI patiently await the people that put traffic cones adjacent to the sidewalk to start messing with their pathing. It would be kinda funny to see a driverless pile-up caused by two guys with surplus road commission signage. Who needs LIDAR anyways, right? Double points if you succeed at fooling them from the standoff distance of your own private property!
- not_your_vase 2y agoOkay, but how is it any more different than summoning the car from the carpark? Show me a driverless tesla going at a real driving speed in a real world traffic in a random town, while hitting fewer than 3 people/mile, and I will say it's something. But this is a nothingburger on its own.

- not_your_vase 2y agoNow, that's more like it, that should be in the tweet, not that artificial stuff.
