- janeerie 2y agoUSDS is supposed to set the example of how to "do" tech in the federal government and build capacity at agencies. The fact that this organization is being dismantled is significant.

- yieldcrv 2y agoThe acting administrator is clearly Musk, but if he gets an official appointment then it limits his domain to the constraints of that appointment, by the courts. So its better off being ambiguous, because then its just an issue for Congress, who is disabled

- Eddy_Viscosity2 2y agoGreat system of check and balances that it can be so easily by-passed.
- jfengel 2y agoIt wasn't easy. It took decades to put it in place: complete control of the judiciary, dominance of the legislature, creating a vast alternate-reality echo chamber, dividing the public and getting half of them to be willing to accept a complete bypass. It took a very long time to set up all of the dominoes. They fall very quickly.
- yieldcrv 2y agoIt was always vulnerable Our constitution was compromised from the beginning and as a coping mechanism the government’s schools taught that as a benefit and compromise as a core value
- RickJWagner 2y agoIt’s been known for a long time that upwards of 90% of the federal government are aligned with the party of big government. Resignations of this kind will not be seen as a step backwards.
- SR2Z 2y agoThis is a silly take. You mean to tell me that government workers support government work? Resignations won't be seen as a step back by conservatives up until their septic system fails and shit bubbles out of the ground or planes start falling out of the sky. The rest of us think that it's actually hard to run a government and you need armies of qualified civil servants to do that work. We see layoffs for ideological reasons as the poorly-evidenced power grab they are.
- esbranson 2y agoIt's not silly at all, you just want it to be. Propaganda rots the brain. It's sad but laughable what people will believe, for example, Biden's FAA administration, which is still largely in place, is somehow related to conservatives. The new administration hasn't even gotten its people in place yet. At least this executive branch employee quit rather than "resist" "not my president" while at the helm.
- johnnyanmac 2y agoWould you like to say something of substance here? It's strange how people kept repeating TDS last year, but here you are complaining about a president no longer in charge about current actions. Biden didn't fire random FAA controllers them have to backtrack. >The new administration hasn't even gotten its people in place He's got more in place than you're letting on. Moreover he's takin a wrecking ball to people currently in place and blackmailing mayor's. Let's not pretend he hasn't done more damage in a month than some presidents fix in 4 years. >At least this executive branch employee quit rather than "resist" "not my president" while at the helm. Public sector workers are normal people. Quitting is saying "I'm not participating in this circus". And leaves less ambiguity than when fired
- esbranson 2y agoThey can always swear allegiance to the King of England (King of Canada), or if they like Nazi salutes, Mexico. Not sure I like Trump, but the American people deserve a government of their choosing, without obstruction.
- johnnyanmac 2y ago>American people deserve a government of their choosing Did you not vote? Did Trump run on a platform of "I want to dismantle democracy"? What does this even mean?
