NIST researcher here, obviously a throwaway account. About half our postdocs (all the federal scientists who came in through an extremely competitive fellowship) are on the chopping block, and a ton of really awesome staff scientists as well, some of whom have won awards for their work. We knew this was probably coming, but it’s still such a waste :(
