At some point we are going to have a conversation when AI is going to contribute to the Linux kernel.
Especially since this was the only maintainer of the Wifi driver.
We aren't going to like it but it is inevitable sooner or later.

- relistan 2y agoBeing a maintainer is mostly about people and organizing (wrangling), and some much, much smaller percentage about code. This role is not a place for AI any time soon.

If you can get an AI to produce useful patches for the kernel then you can submit them right now. No conversation needed. If you think AI is going to replace all of the human interactions, research, physical testing, and navigation of the companies and communications required to make this work then you either don’t understand what goes into writing drivers or you have an extremely unrealistic idea of how AI works.
