Is my "red" your "red"? Color similarity judgments using unsupervised alignment
- ggm 2y agoThis has always fascinated me. Experientally I believe it's actually impossible to unpack the actual nature of the hue/saturation/cone-or-rod responses inside the model we construct in our brains. But the nuances of perception and understanding, the commonalities of this are always worth exploring. And I learned a new method for comparison in possibly dimensionally unrelated spaces, the "Gromov-Wasserstein distance" I have a 36 year long fight with my wife about the first car we shared, which I am sure was brown and she states was legally red, and I can concede the brown had reddish tones, but brown it is. Or not.
