Because, historically speaking, when companies make use of technology to improve productivity, it's not always (or even usually) to reduce headcount. It's very often to dedicate more resources to more productive tasks. If journalists can offload a bunch of grunt work, they can write more actual higher-quality journalism.k The entire history of economic progress is about making it possible for employees do more, not merely doing the same with less employees.
