Many modern embedded operating systems support this (including some Linux distributions and Windows IoT). It’s possible, just not very practical, most wouldn’t consider the necessary trade offs worth it.
- userbinator 2y agoIf you boot Windows from a RAMdrive you can do this.
- sebazzz 2y agoParaphrasing: If you boot <OS> in a way that it will never save data, you can do this.
- bdavbdav 2y agoAIUI there can still be write caches on SSDs etc
