Philosophy is a wife. Possessive and jealous, demands full focus.

  But if you want your philosophy to encompass most people's lives, it mustshould approach the 'standard model' of family-with-kids, or it's impractical and/or inapplicable. In order for a philosophy to be completely applicable to human life, one has to have lived the experience, not just viewed it from afar. And, as with all comprehensive philosophies, compassion must be at its root, or it's irrelevant nonsense constrained solely to the physical world, not the human world.
