/R/Math Database of "Woke DEI" Grants
- deleted 2y ago[deleted]
- duxup 2y agoResearchers play the game and copy paste some lines in their proposal to not be excluded. Next round they’ve vilified McCarthyism style and grants and threatened for doing what they were asked to do. Meanwhile the US retreats from science research….
- leereeves 2y agoMcCarthyism already occurred when researchers felt forced to toe the DEI party line "to not be excluded". Even math researchers, as we see in this link. That said, I agree that the intrusion of politicians (of both parties) into science is troubling, but I don't know where a researcher could go to avoid it.
- duxup 2y agoI think there’s a big difference between an ill conceived line about DEI… and politician’s gathering lists of woke research with people’s names on them… Let alone the the rhetoric about “disloyal” and “Marxist” from the administration as a whole. One is foolish, the other fits McCarthyism word for word.
- leereeves 2y agoA lot more happened under the previous administration than "an ill conceived line about DEI".
- duxup 2y agoI never heard anything quite so much like McCarthyism as we have now.
- leereeves 2y agoI guess you just weren't paying attention when Biden purged the government of what CNN called "Trump loyalists". https://www.cnn.com/2021/02/06/politics/biden-removing-trump-board-appointments/index.html https://www.cnn.com/2021/02/06/politics/biden-removing-trump...
- chabes 2y agoYou can whatabout with something that is obviously lopsided more in one direction, or you can call out the BS on both sides. Either way, we can see the bias.
- duxup 2y agoThe Trump administration certainly loves to describe their own actions in the context of complaining about anyone who they think even might oppose them. More of a confession than reality.
