Led bulbs may last up to 50 times longer, but the sad truth most 240v led bulbs flogged onto the unsuspecting public here in Australia in the past, even good name brands, were doing well to last even three, yes three times longer before starting to dim, signalling that within a few weeks or months the bulb will dim to a point it will need replacing. Yes, the manufactures of brands sold over our way opted to use some fraction of consumables (capacitor, transistor etc) that were a few cents cheaper but a tenth or hundredth as resilient. I think the quality of bulb electronics is starting to improve though for our much warmer conditions.
I like led bulbs though, for every one 100w incandescent bulb replaced ... instead of one lit room, the entire household can be well lit.
