Did I just go back 40 years in time?
- rollcat 2y agoAll of these guidelines are perfectly applicable for modern mission-critical or embedded code, which is a big chunk of what NASA does (sending stuff into space, including people, and keeping it operational / bringing them back), and been doing for far longer than 40 years. Even then, the essence (code clarity, robustness, tooling/static analysis, etc) is a good guideline for general code. You can play fast & loose with prototypes/MVPs, or one-off scripts, but once it's time to bring it to production and maintaining it long-term, you will be grateful to yourself for keeping stuff clean.
