Basic thermodynamics say atmospheric carbon capture will be more expensive than switching to renewables. However, we’re already committed to carbon capture because corrupt politicians decided not to switch to renewables in the 1980’s, and will continue to block them for at least another decade (if we only want to wait another ten years to take action, we’ll need to somehow magically replace Trump with democrats tomorrow).
