I don't think this is unique to AI. There are categories of knowledge that are infested with bad practices (webdev, enterprise software), and even a direct web search will lead you to those results. AI definitely regurgitates many of these bad practices, I've seen it, but it's not obvious to everyone. I think it's unrealistic to expect a general purpose LLM would be an practical expert in a new field where there are potentially 0 human practical experts.
