How does a worm move along peripheral nerves, physically? Now that I think about it, I don't know exactly what a nerve is like. Is it hollow? Is it filled with fluid like blood vessels?
- gavmor 2y agoLooks like strings of neurons are bundled together like Cat5 cables, fed along the way by parallel blood vessels. It's not hard to imagine a thin multicellular organism undulating up these bundles, between strands or between sub-bundles. https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Brian-Ilfeld/publication/304365497/figure/fig1/AS:391303247482891@1470305372612/Peripheral-nerve-anatomy-image-courtesy-of-Myoscience.png https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Brian-Ilfeld/publicatio...
- dreamcompiler 2y agoI've wondered the same thing myself. The rabies virus takes the same route to the brain. Once it gets there, 99% of victims die. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rabies https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rabies
