Trump and Musk can't seem to locate much evidence of fraud
- fullshark 2y agoThe things they claim such as "this person getting a social security check is 150 years old!" is also embarrassing claims of fraud for anyone that's worked with a database before. The whole thing is culture war nonsense, slop to feed his followers on twitter to get the attention Musk's addicted to. Hopefully the courts end this charade before more damage is done.
- krapp 2y agoMusk literally said DOGE is "dismantling the radical-left shadow government."[0] Like, he said the quiet part out loud. Anyone still claiming that DOGE's purpose or goals have anything to do with government spending or efficiency are either naive or else engaging in regime propaganda. It is about purging the government of wrongthink and harassing political enemies, end of. [0]https://x.com/elonmusk/status/1886840365329608708 https://x.com/elonmusk/status/1886840365329608708
- keernan 2y agoThe courts do not have a way to stop the President. The US Marshall Service is part of the Executive. Without the US Marshalls, Judges are tigers with no teeth. Literally nothing SCOTUS can do when a President does not voluntarily comply other than to order Executive Branch employees to disobey the President and hope they comply.

- dkjaudyeqooe 2y agoBecause they have none and it's a huge PR job? People forget Trump's first go around.
- insane_dreamer 2y agoRemember the "caravans" that were "invading" the border?
- sys32768 2y agoNot surprising since it has only been just over three weeks since Trump assumed office.
- cratermoon 2y agoAre you implying they should be given more time? More time to dismantle programs claiming fraud without finding any?
- sys32768 2y agoThere's plenty of waste and fraud, as there was under Trump's first term and Biden's. https://www.realclearinvestigations.com/articles/2024/12/17/waste_of_the_day_another_161_billion_lost_to_improper_payments_1078776.html https://www.realclearinvestigations.com/articles/2024/12/17/...
- yostrovs 2y agoMany do not acknowledge this and seem to believe our government runs like a well oiled machine. It's as though they never had to actually deal with the bureaucracy and never noticed anything odd.
- cratermoon 2y agoNo one is claiming there's no waste and fraud, that exists in any large organization. As the article notes, the efforts so far don't seem to have demonstrably found and eliminated it. "they seem to be using very nonspecific and unsubstantiated allegations of fraud to justify a massive overhaul of specific government agencies. "
- insane_dreamer 2y agoOf course. And that's why there are investigations and also Inspector Generals to watch for this stuff. (Except those guys just got fired.) Investigating and fixing instances of fraud is one thing -- and a good thing. Axing departments and firing a bunch of people based on ideology (DOE, USAID) or retribution (DOJ), or loyalty tests (OBM, etc.) has nothing to do with "fixing waste and fraud".
